Who We Are

Multi Activist for Women and Youth Development Agency

Is a registered Non-Governmental and not for profit women led-organisation that was established in 1991 as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in the name of Makerere Women Development Association (MAWDA) by vibrant women who were concerned about the worrying increased rates of human rights violations towards HIV+ mothers and their children, Persons with Disability (PWDs), and young people. In 2019, MAWDA upgraded from a CBOto an NGO known as Multi Activist for Women and Youth Development Agency (MAWDA) with the permit to work in any part of Uganda.


An empowered society where women and youth can enjoy their human and health rights along the development path.


To enhance grass root collaboration pertinent to stakeholders’ involvement in need identification, planning, strategizing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating interventions such that every individual in respective working groups exhibits ownership and eventual effective sustainability

Organisational Objectives

To Improve the livelihood of women, youth, orphans and other vulnerable people with major focus on those affected HIV/AIDS to live a life of dignity where they fully enjoy their human and health rights.

To Empowerment of women and youth to actively participate in decision making at all levels in order to influence resource allocation and control in favour of the poor and excluded people and consequently improve social service delivery in the communities.

Stimulate community action on beliefs, norms, practices and risky behavior with an intent to reduce incidences of domestic violence.

To synergies resources, skills and knowledge with local communities for empowering women, youth, PLWHA and other vulnerable persons for sustainable development.
